Everyone was happy for a brief moment. Meanwhile, we see the person who had been spying on Klein getting interrogated—rather painfully—by Captain Dunn. Dunn discovered the spy’s connection to the Secret Order, the organization behind leaking the Antigonus family’s notebook, based on the seal on the spy’s neck.
Leonard noted it made sense now why the man was watching Klein, and warned that the Secret Order wouldn’t give up easily if they wanted something. So, Dunn decided they had to locate the notebook before the organization did. Just then, his assistant arrived and informed him that Klein had found a lead.
Klein had visited the house of a deceased woman and got overwhelmed, but Captain Dunn helped calm him. Leonard found a message at the scene that read: “I came here and I found the notebook.” However, after searching the place, they couldn’t find it. They also learned that the woman’s son, Piper, had gone missing.
Leonard handed Klein a picture of Piper, who then used his powers and cane to try locating him. But the cane started moving erratically—almost hitting Klein. Dunn stepped in and stopped it, noting that a powerful force was interfering with their search. He decided to request help from the Holy Cathedral Knights.
Later, Dunn handed Klein a Topaz Pendulum, a tool to help amplify communication with spirits. Meanwhile, the Knights authorized the use of a dangerous Grade 2 artifact—a rare sealed relic typically locked behind barriers due to its power. Some such items possess mysterious abilities; others are outright destructive.
When the artifact arrived in Tingan City, Dunn introduced Klein to the rest of the Nighthawks:
- Harrison, the “Nightmare” (Sequence 7)
- Boura, the “Gravedigger” (Sequence 8)
- And Daly, the “Spirit Medium” (Sequence 7), who warmly welcomed Klein
However, Harrison objected to Klein’s participation, stating his combat abilities were basically zero. Dunn was also uneasy—not because of Klein, but because of the artifact. Using it was risky. But Harrison argued that if the rumor about Piper being related to the Antigonus family was true, then they’d need an artifact from that family to find him.
Harrison activated the relic while instructing everyone to follow his lead for safety. As the artifact—a sealed box—was opened, it began to move. Inside was a small mummy-shaped clown doll. Klein called it cute… until its second face appeared and it suddenly tried to strangle him. Luckily, Leonard stepped in to save him.
Klein freaked out and ran as the creepy doll chased him. Dunn explained that the doll reacts to things related to the Antigonus family—likely why it targeted Klein, since he had uncovered a clue. The doll could control two or three nearby people, but its grip could be broken with a powerful smack—just like Leonard did.
Klein was still running while the clown doll continued to chase him.
Suddenly, the doll became furious upon seeing Piper’s coat and started going wild. This confirmed Harrison’s suspicion—Piper was indeed from the Antigonus family. He immediately ordered the team to track him down.
The Nighthawks began their search, walking through the city while performing the strange artifact movements. Klein felt embarrassed by this, but Leonard reassured him he could stop for now. They later switched to carriages to speed things up.
Meanwhile, a strange man was performing dark magic using Piper and the notebook, with Piper serving as the sacrifice. Another clown-faced individual appeared, noting he was late—the notebook had already been absorbed. However, upon hearing the Nighthawks’ carriage, he saw a new opportunity.
When the team arrived at the warehouse where Piper was, Klein doubted the doll’s ability, but Dunn interrupted and told him to focus. Using the Topaz Pendulum, Klein sensed something dangerous inside. Just then, the doors burst open with red winds, scaring the horses—it was clear Piper had turned into a rampaging monster.
Dunn warned Klein to stay back, and the rest of the team surrounded Piper and launched an all-out attack. It looked like they were winning, but a sudden explosion sent everything into chaos. Dunn realized they weren’t fighting an ordinary monster—but a walking corpse fused with the notebook.
As the team continued battling, Daly discovered the monster’s weakness. She asked everyone to restrain it for just 3 seconds. With powerful, relentless attacks, they pinned the monster down. But just as Klein felt something strange, the notebook inside Piper began glowing red.
A devastating blast erupted, seriously injuring Dunn and Leonard. Harrison tried to protect the artifact, attacking with his sword, but the monster countered and flung him away. Even with injuries, Dunn tried to take control of the situation.
At this point, Klein finally stepped in and used a hypnosis tool to put the monster in a trance. Daly seized the moment and delivered the finishing blow, killing Piper. After the battle, Dunn rushed to help Daly, tending to her injuries.
Meanwhile, Klein heard a strange noise. Following it, he found a mysterious notebook. Suddenly, the clown-faced man appeared and tried to strike Klein, but Dunn intervened. It turned out the attacker was just a shadow clone, and the real one escaped.
The Nighthawks’ new mission became securing the notebook and the artifact. Klein recognized the attacker—it was the same man he saw at the circus. Harrison fought the clown, but couldn’t land a hit. Even Leonard joined in, but the jester unleashed an explosive attack from his face.
No one could stop him—until Klein, analyzing his movements, came up with an idea and managed to land a hit. The jester then revealed his real plan: he struck the bag holding the artifact. The box opened, releasing the clown doll again, which immediately took control of the area and everyone in it.
Klein, realizing how dangerous the situation had become, decided to escape using a fog spell. He recited the incantation and vanished. Before leaving, he concluded that the jester aimed to unleash the doll to control everything. Knowing that staying would only put his friends at risk, he used the pendulum to safely return to his world—hoping to come back stronger.
When Klein returned, he found the Jester waiting for him, offering a deal: if Klein handed over the Antigonus family notebook, the Jester would release him and his friends. As a bonus, he promised to elevate Klein to the Eighth Rank.
Klein was torn. Was the Jester telling the truth or just trying to trick him? The Jester claimed everyone was asleep and that this secret would stay just between them. But Leonard, fully aware of the situation, urgently called out to Klein to make a decision quickly.
Then, the Jester whispered something shocking—though we don’t hear it—and pulled out a strange weapon, nearly touching Klein with it. But Klein grabbed the weapon first, catching the Jester off guard. He used that moment to strike. Just then, the cursed doll, which still hadn’t lost its effect, suddenly took control of the Jester, giving Klein the chance to finish him off—one shot to the neck, one to the head.
As the Jester died, he suddenly stood back up and uttered the name Hornacis before collapsing for good. With the battle over, the team secured the ancient artifact, and everyone checked on each other.
Leonard approached Klein, saying he had wanted to save him—but in the end, Klein saved them all. He whispered that he knew more than he let on, which made Klein call him a narcissist.
They returned the ancient weapon to its resting place, officially completing the mission. Captain Dunn praised Klein, saying he had performed exceptionally, saved lives, and ruined the Secret Order’s plans. He assured Klein that the Knights Templar would verify the contents of the notebook and that Klein would get to read it soon. He also promised to recommend Klein as a permanent member of the Nighthawks.
Still, Klein was stunned. If the Jester knew the notebook was so dangerous, why did he bring it to Tingen? Dunn replied, “People with evil intentions always make foolish choices.” As Klein looked at the Jester’s body, shocked that he had killed someone, Dunn reassured him—it was necessary to save lives.
Klein recalled what the Jester had said: that the Eighth Rank opposite the Seer… was the Jester.
Later, he met with the Nighthawks to say goodbye. Even Harrison acknowledged Klein’s strength, calling him the first Ninth Rank to defeat a Seventh Rank. Klein blushed and insisted it was just luck, but Leonard started analyzing the situation like always—only to get shut down by Klein again. Still, Harrison said Klein was the most talented Seer he’d ever met, and that a bright future awaited him.
Back at home, Klein began experiencing strange sensations. Dunn told him to rest, and Klein reflected on everything that had happened. He decided to visit the university to speak with his history teacher.
At the university, Klein met with Professor Eggers and asked about Hornacis. He shared everything that had happened, including the notebook and events in the Hornacis Mountains. The teacher seemed intrigued and mentioned hearing something similar—but then downplayed it, saying it might just be a coincidence in the word origins.
Klein asked him to reach out if he discovered anything useful. Before leaving, he thanked Eggers for the gift, but Eggers said the real thanks went to Klein for his dedication. He also warned Klein to avoid meddling in forbidden areas if he wanted to stay out of trouble. Klein promised to be careful.
But after Klein left, Eggers began thinking deeply… then revealed a mysterious tattoo behind his ear. From his shadow, an eerie power emerged—hinting that there was far more going on than Klein realized.
