The scene shifts to the Moon Temple of Manden Bergen, where a priestess bathes in the moonlight. As she gazes at the moon, tears stream down her face. She declares that the moon appears baleful tonight and foretells that the cosmic laws are about to be rewritten.
Meanwhile, Kozel approaches the camp of the Seven Heroes, believing his long-awaited revenge is finally within reach. However, an airship suddenly appears, blocking his path. The ship’s occupants are actually after Kozel, and one of them shoots down his dragon, causing it to crash towards the camp. To his surprise, this incident brings him closer than ever to his targets. As the camp gates open, the Seven Heroes emerge, and Kozel immediately spots Glenn—the one responsible for injuring his eye. He lunges at Glenn but is abruptly stopped when strange markings appear all over his body, rendering him immobile.
One of the heroes is revealed to be behind this spell, yet Kozel struggles against its effects. The heroes are astonished that he can still move, even under restraint, but soldiers quickly secure him with restraining equipment, making him completely powerless. As he drops his sword, the crowd regains its voice, outraged that a demihuman would dare raise his weapon against their lord. They clamor for his execution, but Glenn unexpectedly chooses to pardon him. His decision shocks everyone, and he explains that the people of the Borderlands have suffered due to prolonged wars. Since they received little aid because of the wall, it’s only natural that Kozel harbors resentment. Glenn argues that the boy needs help rather than punishment. He reassures Kozel that his suffering is over and leaves, earning the cheers of the people.
Kozel realizes this was Glenn’s plan all along. To reach this point, Glenn had his four comrades killed and even laughed as they perished. For twenty years, Kozel clawed his way through the Borderlands to stand here, yet in that time, Glenn amassed immense fame. As the heroes depart and the crowd disperses, Kozel remains standing in disbelief as the rain pours down on him.
Later, Rosin, the man who previously targeted Kozel, arrives at the scene, surprised that Glenn let him go. Someone asks if there’s anything special about Kozel. The story then shifts to Kozel wandering alone in the forest. Suddenly, a wyvern grabs him. Meanwhile, Weed and his companions fly overhead in the airship. They notice the wyvern carrying Kozel, and the girl riding the beast attempts to kill him. However, Weed crashes the airship into the dragon, sending everyone plummeting to the ground.
Kozel is knocked unconscious, and as the girl moves in to finish him off, Peipei intervenes. Injured, Weed is confused by the situation and recognizes the guard worn by the mysterious girl. The girl orders Peipei to move aside, warning that she will kill her too if she interferes. Despite this, Peipei refuses, stating that she won’t let Kozel die because he once saved her life. The girl attacks, but Peipei skillfully dodges and calls out to Kozel to wake up. He remains motionless.
Weed then recognizes the girl as a princess. She is startled to see him and demands to know what he’s doing there. Weed, in turn, asks her why she is wearing the Black Avenger’s garb. The scene shifts back to the camp, where Rosin reveals that the young demihuman boy is actually the hero of the Borderlands. He recounts how, in the Borderlands, the rebels had gathered their forces, causing the people great suffering. However, three weeks ago, a single man annihilated those rebels—that man was Kozel. When others express disbelief in his strength, Rosin admits that even he was powerless against Kozel.
Back in the forest, Weed learns that Kozel was the one who killed Lord Kat. The princess, burning with vengeance, asks Weed to stand aside and watch as she takes her revenge. She introduces herself as the third princess of the Scaro Clan and attacks Peipei. Just as her strike is about to land, Kozel takes the blow on his leg to protect Peipei. The princess moves in for the final strike, but Kozel swings his sword, and the shockwave alone shatters her helmet. His overwhelming murderous aura weakens her knees, and she collapses. Kozel then loses consciousness as well.
The story then shifts to the Frontier Town of Hated Scato, where Kozel and his friends take refuge in a camp. The town’s mayor is informed that men from the Landgraves’ military have arrived. Though initially relieved, he quickly becomes wary, sensing that these newcomers are more suspicious than anyone else. Nonetheless, he explains the town’s current predicament—many people have gathered to witness the Seven Heroes’ encampment, while refugees have taken shelter within the walls following the collapse of the Thousand Stone Spears.
The man expresses his unease at the large crowd, but the bald man reassures him, introducing himself as Centurion Jiren Pen and promising to handle everything. Meanwhile, in the refugee camp, Peipei is stopped by someone of her own race, who introduces himself as Zephy from the village of Arra. Peipei is shocked to meet another of her kind, as their race—the Muu Mural—was nearly wiped out. Just as she is about to respond, Altia interrupts, equally surprised to see someone of Peipei’s race.
Zephy’s parents soon arrive and recognize Altia, expressing their gratitude for her help in smuggling them to safety. Though Altia doesn’t remember them, they insist that life here is better than they expected, thanks to Langra Schalich’s governance. Zephy’s mother tells Altia that she has helped many people like them, which moves Altia to tears. Zephy then invites Peipei to join them, explaining that other survivors of their race are gathering to build a new village.
Meanwhile, in a tent, Kozel awakens to find Weed and Ut arguing. Ut demands to know why Weed sided with Kozel despite his loyalty to her brother. Weed insists that his loyalty remains intact but reminds her that her brother never sought revenge. He then asks Kozel if he wishes to kill him, throwing his sheathed sword at her feet and daring her to end his pathetic life. However, Weed punches Kozel, scolding him for his defeated expression. Calling him the “Man of the Black Sword,” he asserts that Kozel still has unfinished business.
Weed then reveals his true purpose—he has come to rescue a woman named Sharon, the second princess of the House of Karo and older sister of Ut and Crat. A month ago, she left to negotiate an alliance with a powerful neighboring clan, with Weed acting as her bodyguard. However, she was abducted during the mission. Weed insists that he needs Kozel’s strength to save her. When Kozel hesitates, Weed reminds him that he single-handedly annihilated the rebel stronghold and likely caused the collapse of the Thousand Stone Spears—rescuing one woman should be no challenge for him. He urges Kozel to postpone his own death and lend his strength to the mission.
Three days pass. Peipei brings Kozel some soup and excitedly shows him her new outfit, made by Zephy’s mother. However, she notices that he still looks dejected. She tells him she plans to leave with Zephy’s family soon but can’t do so if he remains like this. Suddenly, Centurion appears behind her. Kozel immediately prepares to fight, but Peipei reassures him that Centurion is an ally, a member of the Landgraves’ military, and will escort them to their new settlement. She introduces Kozel to Centurion, who is intrigued, as he has never seen anyone like him before. He acknowledges that Kozel’s journey through the Borderlands must have been difficult. At that moment, Weed arrives and is surprised to see Centurion.
Meanwhile, in the forest, a group of bandits prepares to execute some demihumans, but Zephy stumbles upon them. Realizing he could alert others, they decide to silence him as well. Back at the camp, Centurion is bound and questioned by Weed, who demands to know where Sharon has been taken. Centurion, however, has no idea what Weed is talking about. Weed recalls seeing soldiers handing Sharon over to Centurion as he disembarked from the Dragon Airship Fleet’s flagship. When Centurion suggests discussing the matter calmly, Weed refuses and begins mocking him, calling him names.
Centurion, growing irritated, insists that he is not a kidnapper but a soldier of the Landgrave—an order of warriors who supposedly bring justice to the world. Weed scoffs, finding it hard to see any resemblance between Centurion and a noble fairy. However, when he crosses the line by calling him bald, Centurion breaks free of his restraints in tears. Just then, Zephy rushes in, begging for Centurion’s help. Three men chase after him, but Centurion, enraged by their insults, swiftly defeats them.
Zephy urges Centurion to follow him into the woods to explain the situation, but more bandits appear, surrounding them. They demand that Zephy be handed over if Centurion values his life. Realizing the situation is spiraling out of control, Centurion draws his dagger, revealing the Landgrave crest, and declares himself a sworn brother of Chile Arch Fargo. He vows not to stand idle while atrocities unfold before him. However, the bandits remain unimpressed. Their leader brandishes a dagger with an officer’s crest, revealing that they operate under direct orders from Langra Schem Wallich and are protected by his influence.
Centurion is shocked but reluctant to defy the Landgrave’s will. As the bandits close in on Zephy, Kozel suddenly appears, cutting them down in an instant.
